The North Michigan Conference of the Free Methodist Church – USA is seeking a Lead Pastor for “The Woods Free Methodist Church,” located in Stanwood Michigan. The church is about 10 minutes south of Big Rapids, Michigan and 45 minutes north of Grand Rapids, Michigan. It has the beauty found in West and North Michigan. Fishing, hunting, boating, swimming, hiking, and camping top the list of outdoor activities that are common to this area. It is also close to Ferris State University, and has the conveniences of populated areas.
The church has great lay leadership and a congregation ready to grow. There has been good stability in this church over the last 20 years. They have good children’s and youth programs, but want to improve in these areas. The church and the Conference leadership are looking for candidates who have a proven history of leading churches in growth. Masters degree level education preferred, but applicants must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and at least five years of pastoral experience. Key factors in a successful candidate will include demonstrated involvement with community, and school connections; the desire to connect with other churches in the area for Kingdom success; organizational skills, willing to work at clear communication, and follow up; understanding a church staff culture and ability to develop staff. The church currently employs an Associate Pastor of Family Life Ministries
The pay package includes cash, ranging from $30,000 to $33,000, housing, utilities, FICA, and Pension. The parsonage is a 2900 sq. foot home with 5 bedrooms. It was built in 2003 and is a well-maintained home.
